PhD in Sociology with Specialization in Political Economy,
Carleton University

Alejandro has ample experience in migration and youth research, policy evaluation, teaching, and education management in Canada and Mexico. He is currently a doctoral student in Sociology with specialization in Political Economy at Carleton University, and besides holding numerous awards and scholarships, he is also a Vanier Scholar, the Government of Canada’s most prestigious international award for doctoral students.

 Alejandro’s current research focuses on the experiences of integration and the development of transnational ties of Latin American youth in Canada with their countries of origin. He was also recently the co-chair of the Committee for Refugee Issues (Syrian case), and also a member of the Advisory Search Committee for Vice-President (Research and International) at Carleton University. In his spare time, Alejandro volunteers as a producer and host of the weekly radio show Soy Latinoamérica at CKCU (93.1 FM).
