Mariana Martins Almeida


Master in International Relations with a concentration in International Politics at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil

Currently a visiting researcher at the Political Science department in Carleton University, Canada through the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) and from September 2017 to July 2018 a master’s student at the African Studies Centre in Leiden University, the Netherlands through the LExS Award Scholarship. Mariana’s research focuses on how international organizations and NGO’s have been managing migration issues when it comes to the African diaspora. Her interests are migration, diaspora, African diaspora, international organizations, NGO’s, colonialism, post-colonialism and decoloniality.
