Dr. Yalcin Diker is a retired Turkish Naval officer who also taught at Istanbul’s Naval War Academy from 1989 to 1991. He migrated to Canada in 1999. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Istanbul University, and two M.A. degrees; one in International Affairs from Istanbul University and the second in European Studies from Carleton University. Yalcin’s primary interests are migration and diaspora as well as Middle East issues. His current research interests include the EU’s asylum and migration policy, Turkish diaspora and Turkey-EU relations. Yalcin is currently writing a book about Turkish Diaspora in Canada. He has numerous publications including: Turkish-Greek relations, Aegean Issues, leadership, and the European Union migration policy.
