Research Area:
CLIMATE AND GLOBAL CHANGE

Climate and global change are urgent and emerging issues: natural disasters have become more frequent and severe, and changing landscapes are affecting access to resources, including food and water, threatening peoples’ welfare and ways of life. Displacement due to climate change and environmental degradation is projected to increase, with the impacts typically affecting most vulnerable populations first. This necessitates the development of effective strategies and frameworks for resettlement, sustainable practices i.e. clean energy, and waste management, environmental rehabilitation, as well as for the mitigation of climate and global change impacts. The issues surrounding climate change on a global scale continue to emerge. Therefore, development of international law and policy, as well as examination of the socio-economic impacts and current responses to issues of climate and global change is needed.
